About Dog-wise
by Judith Wright

One coyote hound, one mission: what begins as an attempt to understand and rehabilitate one rescue dog turns into an exploration of the wider dog world, and the special bond that people share with dogs.

What do we learn from living and working with a dog?  Set in Saskatchewan and based on conversations with dog-owners and professional handlers, Dog-wise shares the secret of living happily with a dog, learning more about ourselves, and applying those lessons to everyday life.

In Dog-wise, we meet a range of canines and share their stories--from show, detection and assistant dogs to search and rescue, guardian and sled dogs.  We follow herding dogs at work, prepare a dog-team for sledding, sit in on a therapy dog session, and more.
Learn what police dogs have in common with therapy dogs, what hunters and herders share, and what our vets can tell about us from our dogs.

If dogs make us human, as some people suggest, then what a particular dog has to teach us is worth understanding.

Dog-wise is for the curious, the new dog-owner, or those who want  to know a bit more about dogs.
